I grew up around GSDS they being my mothers passion, I had my first GSD whom I adopted from the S.P.C.A. in Zimbabwe were I worked as a vet nurse who I named wolfie as he was a huge big long haired boy, he was a faithful wonderful companion up until the day he died some three years later due to cancer, we competed several times in obedience together. During me buying my second shepherd in Botswana I was getting married. My second Shepherd Raena was a sable and a handful! a very dominant bitch who loved to boss me about we enjoyed training each other for Schutzhund we were always tops in our tracking and man work, unfortunately we always failed miserably with the obedience, because she was gun shy, she was a wonderful foster mother to many kittens and puppies that were bought home for hand rearing even though she never had a litter herself. Sadly this wonderful domineering girl who taught me so much about Shepherds died at the age of six. During my time with Raena I was working for a breeding kennel von Brinson German Shepherds, I ran their kennels for them and showed their dogs for them at the dog shows in the country, While doing this I was introduced to a fellow Shepherd enthusiast Paul Greeff od Zilletal German Shepherds he was one of the top breeders in our country and still is, He gave me my first pedigree show Shepherd, she was a lovely bi colour a super gentle soft girl called Zilletal Spice known to us as Ice, I worked her in working trials and made her up into Novice obedience as well as her having a successful show career, from then on we were hooked, Paul and I started a good friendship and I used to help him out by running on his progeny for him , we acquired Zilletal Opal a few months after Ice, a real looney, but magic in temperament my husband and I were then sold to Pethilton Hanno and Zilletal Sapphire. Hanno was a wonderful boy a pleasure to own, handle and work. He was produced from Paul’s two imports the Male Kimon von der Innschleife and the Bitch Ornella vom hawelkaweg, Hanno did very well in the shows winning best puppy in show and best working puppy. During all this showing and working our dogs, I found out unexpectantly that I was three months pregnant. I continued to train and show my dogs right up until the day before I gave birth to my eldest daughter. Sadly Hanno died when my daughter was a year old of an Unknown virul infection which killed him within twenty four hours of being exposed to it. By Now I had decided to go it alone and had started up my own boarding kennel business which did very well with a few breeders coming to me to look after their dogs while they went overseas. Our Little Saphi half sister to Hanno and a lovely bitch , Paul sent her up to us as a go between until her new owners came to collect her, They never came to collect her and by then she was three months and fitted in well with the routine and family so we asked Paul if we could have her for ourselves. She was the first Bitch that I bred from she had a loving temperament was a very easy dog. Ice and Saphi were always with my daughter and the pram at dog shows and many people commented on how well behaved they were just lying around not tied up they were never aggressive to anyone or any dog. I knew I could always leave my girls and trust them that they would never get up to any mischief while I was not around. At the age of two Saphi was mated to my friend Ilse’s dog he was a sable. The reason we used Tanah Merah Rambutan was because Saphi was classed as a pale pigmented bitch and I wanted to correct the problem in her pups. She had thirteen puppies on the 15th of April 2004 she was an extremely good mother for a first timer, my daughter aged 15 months then and I sat in the whelping box with her clamping, cutting, drying, weighing, all the puppies, in between this Paul and Ilse were phoning to check how she was doing and My best friend Samantha came round to help make coffee and loads of it. All thirteen bundles of mischief survived, they are now nearly four with seve n of them finding their owners being bitten by the show bug and being made into champions. I had only five sables in the litter the rest were black and tan ,four boys and eight girls. Unfortunately the situation in our country was worsening and we had to leave for our daughters future and ours, my friend took Saphi to live with her until we could send for her. My old bitch Ice I had to put to sleep as the arthirits in her legs was so bad by this time that quarantine in a cold country woul dnot have done her any good.
So now we have started our dream and passion in a new country, we have three beautiful girls to help with our dream and hopefully in the future we will have a little boy too.
